PGS July Recap 2026

A Busy Month Across Commercial and Domestic Sites

July has seen our engineers delivering a wide range of plumbing, heating and gas works across both commercial and domestic properties. From solving complex plumbing faults and upgrading plant rooms to carrying out large-scale maintenance programmes within education settings, our team has continued to support clients with reliable, high-quality engineering solutions.

Supporting Schools During the Summer Holidays

Working in schools over the holidays to prevent disruption

The school summer holidays are one of the busiest periods of the year for Plumbing & Gas Solutions. With buildings temporarily unoccupied, our engineers have been working extensively across education sites, completing planned maintenance and essential improvement works ready for the new academic year.

Throughout July, we carried out a full-scale asset servicing programme at one local school, ensuring critical plumbing and heating assets were thoroughly inspected, serviced and operating efficiently before staff and pupils return. Alongside this, our team completed a range of additional works across education settings, including replacing faulty valves, carrying out a gas purge and servicing underfloor heating systems to help ensure every site remains safe, compliant and fully operational.

These planned summer works are a key part of helping schools minimise disruption during term time. It’s why many education providers continue to trust Plumbing & Gas Solutions year after year to maintain their buildings and deliver essential engineering works within the tight summer holiday window.

An Honourable Mention: Cracking a 20-Year-Old Plumbing Mystery

Sometimes, even the smaller plumbing issues can make a big difference to a customer — even when they’ve been around for more than 20 years!

This month, our engineers were called to investigate toilets that bubbled every time the shower was used. Despite several plumbing companies investigating the issue over the years, the cause had never been identified.

After carrying out a detailed investigation, our engineers finally cracked the case. They discovered that a drain testing plug had been left within the pipework when the building was originally constructed. Once removed, the drainage system immediately returned to normal operation, finally resolving an issue that had frustrated the client for two decades.

It’s a great reminder that no issue is too small to investigate properly. Whether it’s a major system fault or a long-standing plumbing problem, getting to the root of an issue and finding the right solution matters.

Commercial Installations and System Upgrades

Water heater installation, copper pipework installation, leak call out and chiller maintenance

Our engineers have also completed a variety of installation and upgrade works throughout July.

A new water heater was installed ahead of a commercial kitchen refurbishment, ensuring the next phase of the project could continue without delay. Harvey, Alex and Apprentice George also completed the installation of new hot water copper pipework within a commercial plant room, alongside fitting a new commercial valve to improve the reliability and performance of the system.

Elsewhere, we responded to a leak at a commercial premises, quickly identifying the issue and carrying out the necessary repairs to minimise disruption to the client’s operations. Korben and our Apprentice George also completed planned chiller maintenance, replacing pressure switches and solenoid valves to keep the system operating efficiently.

Domestic Plumbing Improvements

Alongside our commercial work, we’ve continued supporting homeowners with a range of plumbing improvements.

This month, our engineers replaced several cracked toilets, installed new hot water pipework at a property undergoing renovation and upgraded heavily limescale-affected pipework with new copper pipework to improve both performance and reliability.

We also replaced a leaking diaphragm housing, restoring the efficiency of the customer’s system and helping prevent further issues.

Looking Ahead

As we move into August, our engineers will continue supporting commercial, education and domestic clients with planned maintenance, reactive repairs and specialist installations. Whatever the project, our focus remains on delivering dependable workmanship and engineering solutions our clients can rely on.
