August has been a big month for PGS, with our engineers working across domestic and commercial properties on everything from plumbing repairs and system maintenance to our very first air conditioning installations.
With the summer holidays in full swing, our team have also been making the most of quieter school sites, completing essential maintenance while staff and pupils are away. At the same time, we have been helping domestic customers stay comfortable through the summer and preparing heating systems for the colder months ahead.
A First for PGS: Our New Air Conditioning Installations
August marked an exciting first for PGS as our engineers completed our very first installation of our new air conditioning units at a customer’s property. Mike and Harvey carried out the installation, successfully fitting the system into the property and bringing our new air conditioning service to life.
Not long after, the team completed another installation at a second customer’s property, with Mike, Harvey and Korben installing multiple units across the living room, kitchen and bedroom areas. Alongside the indoor units, external condenser units were installed, with the correct pipework fitted between the internal and external components to ensure the systems were properly connected and able to operate as intended.
One of the biggest benefits of our air conditioning systems is that they can be used all year round. Although many people think of air conditioning as something that is only needed during the summer, our units can provide both cold and hot air, helping customers keep their homes comfortable whether the weather is warm or cold.
This makes them a versatile option for homeowners or businesses looking for greater control over their indoor temperature throughout the year, rather than simply something to keep cool during the summer months.
As our first installation, the team learnt a lot throughout the process, giving us valuable experience that we can continue to build on with every installation. We’re always looking at ways to improve and make the process even smoother for our customers.
One thing we’ve already learnt is that planning ahead is important. The hardware for these installations can have a lead time of a couple of months, so if you’re considering air conditioning for next summer, the winter months are the ideal time to get your installation booked in. That way, when summer arrives, your system is ready to keep you comfortable.
Making the Most of the School Holidays
The summer holidays provide schools with an important window to complete maintenance without staff and pupils on site, and our engineers have been busy making the most of it.
We have carried out full maintenance servicing across schools, checking equipment and systems to make sure everything is working as it should and is ready for the winter months. Completing this work while schools are quieter means essential maintenance can be carried out with minimal disruption, helping ensure everything is ready for staff and pupils when they return.
We have also carried out multiple tank cleans and preparation works as part of keeping systems maintained and ready for use.
Getting Ready for the Colder Months
Although August is still summer, our engineers have already been looking ahead to winter.
We replaced an expansion vessel with a brand new 800 litre vessel, upgrading the existing system and helping improve its reliability. We have also been carrying out summer servicing for domestic customers, giving homeowners the opportunity to have their heating systems checked before they are needed more regularly.
Plumbing and Heating Repairs
As always, our engineers have been kept busy with a wide range of plumbing and heating repairs across our customers’ properties.
This month has included replacing leaking pipework from a cylinder, replacing stainless steel pipework, installing outdoor lagging and investigating an underfloor heating valve. We also replaced a hot and cold three port valve, replaced a flow switch on a boiler and installed a new water heater.
Other callouts included fixing urinal leaks, repairing a gas leak and carrying out fault finding on a boiler following a breakdown. Our team has also completed sink, tap, bathroom and toilet works, helping customers resolve everything from smaller repairs to more involved plumbing requirements.
Looking Ahead
August has been a month of firsts, essential maintenance and plenty of problem solving for the PGS team.
From introducing our air conditioning installations to carrying out important school maintenance during the summer holidays and preparing domestic and commercial systems for winter, our engineers have continued to support customers across a wide range of heating, plumbing and air conditioning needs.
And we’re not stopping there. We’re excited to be adding a new HVAC Lead Engineer to the PGS team. He’ll play a huge role in supporting our already qualified engineers while bringing even more experience and knowledge to the team, helping us expand the range of HVAC services we can offer. Stay tuned for more!
A huge thank you to our customers for their continued support and to our team for all their hard work throughout another busy month. As we head towards the colder months, we look forward to continuing to support our customers and keep their homes, schools and properties running safely, efficiently and comfortably.
See you in September!
