April was a month that showcased not only the work we do for our customers but also our commitment to supporting the local community. Alongside a variety of maintenance, repair, and installation projects, the PGS team took part in fundraising and charitable initiatives that brought colleagues, customers, and local businesses together for some fantastic causes.
From supporting food banks to hosting our very first baking competition, April was a month filled with teamwork both on and off site.
Supporting Our Local Community
One of the highlights of April was taking part in the Milton Keynes Food Bank’s Battle of the Brands campaign alongside our sister company, Facilities Management Solutions. With the incredible support of our colleagues, customers, suppliers, and businesses we work with, we collected an impressive 1,253 food items to help support local people and families in need.
The campaign saw businesses from across the region competing to collect as many donations as possible, and we were proud to finish in second place. Whilst we narrowly missed out on the top spot, the real achievement was seeing so many people come together to support such an important cause within our community.
We would like to thank everyone who donated and helped make the campaign such a success.
Hosting Our First MK's Best Baker Competition
April also saw us host our very first MK’s Best Baker event at the PGS office on 29th April. Organised as part of the Franklin’s 50 Challenge, the event brought together colleagues, friends, customers, and local businesses for a day of fantastic baking and fundraising.
We were delighted to receive 25 competition entries, with participants bringing in an incredible variety of cakes, savoury food, pastries, and sweet treats. The effort and creativity on display made judging extremely difficult, and we couldn’t thank the ladies at Brioche Pasquier enough for taking time out of their day to come and help us judge.
Most importantly, the competition raised £400 for the Spinal Injuries Association, our chosen charity for the challenge. We are incredibly grateful to everyone who took part, donated, baked, and supported the event.
Delivering Reliable Support for Our Customers
Alongside our community activities, the engineering team remained busy supporting customers across a range of domestic and commercial projects.
This included the supply and installation of a replacement hot water cylinder, providing the customer with a reliable and efficient solution after their existing unit reached the end of its service life.
Our engineers also carried out several pipework repair and replacement projects throughout the month. Kellan completed pipework replacement works, while the team also attended a commercial client experiencing leaks within their pipework system. Following investigation, repairs were carried out to restore the system and prevent further issues.
Repairs, Improvements and Preventative Maintenance
April included a variety of maintenance and improvement works designed to keep customer systems operating safely and efficiently.
This month also provided valuable development opportunities for our engineers. Hugh spent time working alongside Dom, supporting the completion of multiple boiler services as part of his ongoing training. This hands-on experience allowed him to further develop his knowledge and skills while helping customers maintain safe, reliable, and efficient heating systems.
Korben carried out the installation of a new shower tray and screen, delivering a practical bathroom upgrade for the customer.
Meanwhile, Kellan attended a site where multiple automatic air vents had failed due to corrosion. The affected components were replaced, surrounding corroded pipework was cleaned up, and a blocked pressure relief valve that had been causing leaks was identified and rectified. By addressing all related issues during a single visit, the overall reliability and condition of the system was significantly improved.
April Summary
April was a month that highlighted the values at the heart of PGS. Alongside continuing to deliver high-quality engineering services for our customers, we were proud to play an active role within our local community through fundraising and charitable initiatives.
Whether collecting over 1,200 food donations, raising funds for the Spinal Injuries Association, or supporting customers with repairs, servicing, and installations, the month demonstrated the teamwork, commitment, and community spirit that continue to drive PGS forward.
